The Green Party and the wider Green movement is committed to social justice and equality. We support anti-discrimination laws. On the basis of sex, sexual orientation, race, religion, age and disability. We support equal access to information and facilities. But do we put it into practice at the personal level?
For example, those with sight difficulties now have "readers" that will read the text on a web page. Clever stuff. But they still can’t see the images. However, they can have a description of that image read to them. But only if it is present – has been inserted by the web page creator.
These descriptions [captions] appear in a box when you pass your cursor over the image. In blogger when creating a post you just need to switch to html mode, look for the alt"" and insert the caption between the quotation marks. If you’re not on blogger look in Help.
Some green bloggers do this, but some do not. Weggis has been sporadic – some are, some not. So, I have been through and inserted them. That’s why loads of posts have come up on Greenfeed.
So, from today I am making a commitment. To do so all of the time. How about you?
Be the change.

ReplyDeleteYour support in this matter would be appreciated.
Weggis, you are so right. I have to do this at work, why shouldn't I do it in my personal life? Particularly now I'm getting some readers. Right, from now on, I will use my alt tag.
