Jim Killock wants to be the Chairman of the Green Party. So does James Humphreys.I know little about either. Jim Killock has a blog.
And a google search on James Humphreys reveals this and this.
What I’m looking for is which one has a back up team of Spock, Bones, Scottie, Uhura, Checkov and Sulu and is prepared
"to boldly go where no man has gone before".
UPDATE: James Humphreys has a website.

It doesn't reveal much of what Mr Humphreys stands for. Hopefully once the campaign starts we may be treated to some info on his views.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'll be keeping an eye out for that, but if anyone spots it before me do let me know.
ReplyDeleteI'm rather hoping that there will be Hustings for contested GPex posts as well as leader at conference.
There usually is, isn't there?
ReplyDeleteDunno, never been before. But I expect so.
ReplyDeleteIf memory serves correctly all posts will have hustings. Have to know whether to vote RON or not...
ReplyDeleteDa doo Ron Ron.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting about this. We are both quite well known to Conference goers, James has made excellent presentations on political and organisational strategy.
ReplyDeleteI’m enquiring about hustings as the ballot process makes the timetable quite difficult, as both leadership and executive elections must close on Friday.
I was horrified at first when I read that Humphreys was Head of Corporate Communications in the Prime Minister’s Office until 2003.
ReplyDeleteBut it turns out that this is a civil servant's job, and non-party political.
Seems like someone with a terrific amount of useful experience to have working for the environment.
I was interested to see that in April 2005 he wrote:
“Looking back, I think that the closeness of New Labour to big business has made it hard for it to act decisively on the environment. There has always been corporate sponsorship, donations and hospitality, but with New Labour it goes far deeper ...”

Thanks for the link, Dot.
ReplyDeleteYes, what we all knew, but now confirmed from an insider.
I think that one political commentator remarked "those that actively seek political office are usually those that you would least want to have it"
ReplyDeleteThe Green Party is going to face the problem that occurred long ago with the Tories and Labour, many "bright young things" will see it as a vehicle for their political ambitions, a position in Europe is fairly well-paid, travel opportunities and leads to other connections, and all they have to do is spout off about re-cycling, carbon taxes, etc
the candidates will try to press all of the right buttons and make all of the right sounds, for the audience
I wonder how many of these leadership contenders will eventually acquire a column on the Guardian or Cif?
where they can recount their recycling escapades in their 4x4s?
or how for the sake of the environment, they'll will only be taking two holidays a year to France, instead of the normal four? how will they manage!
weggi, I hope you're better?
Holidays in France are OK ... as long as they go by Train.
ReplyDeleteI am recovering well, thanks.
