Double standards?

Fury as 'anti-Semitic' banker is invited to speak at LSE

Sabby Dhalu, the joint secretary of Unite Against Fascism, called for Mr Sarrazin to be banned from the UK. "There is grotesque double standards in the implementation of bans on people entering Britain. There is no doubt that a known Muslim spouting similar views would be denied entry," she said.

Oh I don't know. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign [in particular the Scottish ones] and "Green Left" have been known to share platforms with such people on several occasions. Even the Leader of the Green Party has done so.

Where were Unite Against Fascism then?

  1. An SPD politician.

Amongst other things, he's reported as saying that 'he wished that it was “Eastern European Jews” that were reproducing quickly since “their IQs are 15 percent higher than that of the German people." '

Interestingly, the Jewish Virtual Library itself tells us proudly that:

"The Nobel Prizes are awarded by the Nobel Foundation of Sweden to men and women who have rendered the greatest service to humankind. Between 1901 and 2008, more than 750 Nobel Prizes were handed out. Of these, at least 163 are Jews."

The high cultural value placed on education, and in particular the indispensability of educated women and mothers is what we ought to all be learning from.

  2. Weggis,

There's more on the issue of antisemitism and the Greens.

I tried to drop a comment at Jim's, but his silly comments policy swallowed it.

    Have you seen

One question, which senior figure in the Greens recommended an article by a known holocaust denier on his blog?

Any idea? I am trying to find out who that is?

  3. Yes, and Lucy Lips has the story too.

I don't know about a blog. I think he is referring to the RR tweet episode.

  4. Got it, sorry, my old memory isn't what it was.

I should have known, posted enough on Rupert.

But still, there's nothing really coming from the Greens concerning Toby's resignation, not good.

Paints the Greens in a very poor light. Agree, disagree with him, but someone from the Greens should have the bottle to speak up?

Could it be group-think? Or no one wants to risk their political career? Not good.

  5. Oooh and look at this.

    What a coincidence!

  6. Between the lines,

I wouldn't recommend Ben White, if I were you.

White once couldn't find anything antisemitic about Ahmadinejad's rants.

Would you happen to agree with Ahmadinejad?

Or are you opposed to racism? Even antisemitism? Please do elaborate.

  7. That's harsh, Mod.
    BTL is OK.

We don't know if BTL was/is aware of BWs past.

  8. weggis,

It *might* be harsh, but BTL doesn't exactly explain his views too clearly, and I like to be direct, it saves time.

    Well BTL?

  9. Quite a few of the Greens don't exactly love the joos. Derek Wall and Rupert Read clearly.

  10. Mod,
you might get a quicker response if you drop a comment at BTLs place.

  11. Anon,
I don't know about Derek but Rupert is a Quaker and loves everybody.

  12. Greens love everyone, but that doesn't explain why antisemitism pops up in the Greens, from time to time?

  13. Oh hello Mod, if you wondered why I haven't responded to your query here, take a look at the list down the rhs of my blog! Oh and there's wet-life as well of course.

I've noticed that it is always the most narrow and dictatorial interest groups who like to maintain these little black-lists - like the vegan police.

The link I posted is from Liberal Conspiracy, a reputable left-of-centre blog, as far as I'm aware.

If you have an issue with one of their contributors I suggest you take it up with them, if you haven't already.

  14. I was asking your views, BTL, as a Green, do you have any? On antisemitism?

Did you know that Ben White considered Roger Garaudy, a well known Holocaust denier, to be an objective source on Israel, as he included him in the bibliography of his latest book?

BTL, can you see why that might be a bad idea?

    PS: Weggis, cracking post :)
