M&S – Customer Review

This Christmas I ordered a floral gift to be delivered to my favourite Auntie via the Marks & Spencer website. There was an option to specify the day of delivery which I took advantage of.

Auntie telephoned on the day to say thank you.

Then I get an email from M&S asking for a Customer Review, so I provide one as follows:
“It does what it says on the tin.
It was what I ordered.
It arrived on time.
What more can I ask.”

Several days later I receive another email from M&S saying that my review has been rejected as it does not meet their terms and conditions.

WTF?

If you don’t want honesty then don’t fucking ask.

  1. Glorious!

M&S actually going out of its way to insult its customers - for no good reason - just for the laughs!

    Priceless!

How on earth can a 'review' be wrapped up in terms and conditions anyway? No wonder the high street is losing out with Blacks, Thorntons and Thomas Cook all on the edge, when this is the way they treat customers who actually say nice things. FFS

  3. Well, Weggis. You and I both know a publicly funded website where the alleged t&c are applied inconsistently, sometimes harshly, and where they appear to be invented on the spur of the moment. By chance the organisation concerned is very close to a M&S shop!

  4. Perhaps the tag line should now say: At your M&S; terms and conditions apply :)

  5. Going by the low standard of plain written English in too many letters these days, maybe the staff have actually forgotten how to communicate with normal people.

Perhaps u nd to wrt txt? Or how about management speak?

  9. Same reply so I have emailed them back as follows:

    Your write:
    Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to review our Rose & Carnation Bouquet.
Unfortunately, your review did not meet one or more of our guidelines so we cannot use it on our website.
Please read our guidelines to find our criteria. You can then rewrite your review and send it to us again.

Unfortunately your T&C run to 154 screen pages which I'm not gong to read.

Could you perhaps be more specific?

In the meantime I CAN use this on my website and I have.

    Your call.
